How do I make an inquiry or commission work from your studio?

You are free to make email inquires at any time by using our contact form.
You may also reach us by phone from 8 am to 4 pm central time Tuesday through Friday at (608) 669-0093

To commission work we advise making an initial appointment for a meeting or phone conference to discuss your ideas. If you then wish to pursue the commission we will go on to preliminary design and research to develop a cost estimate. Once you are satisfied with the work to be undertaken and have signed a work order a non refundable 50% materials fee is required to begin work, with the balance due upon completion. Projects requiring unusual or extensive research and design may be subject to additional fees to be disclosed prior to obligation.

All research, design work and original designs remain the sole property of Delapsus Resurgam Studios and may not be manufactured, sold, used or reproduced in any way without our express written consent or contract.

When and how will I receive my commissioned work?

Time estimates will be submitted as a component of the cost estimate. Most work is completed within five days of the original time estimate. Once a piece is complete and upon receipt of final payment the piece is scheduled for delivery. Deliveries and installations of small commissions in Madison Wisconsin are made personally by the artist and are free of charge. Shipping, freight charges or mileage outside the immediate Madison area will be discussed and agreed upon with the submission of the work order. All shipping and freight charges must be paid before work can be shipped.

What does Delapsus Resurgam mean?

“Delapsus Resurgam” (Latin – Having fallen I will rise)

Delapsus Resurgam is the name and motto of our studios. It is particularly germane when considering the journey wood makes from the forest to our life. Intimately connected with human history wood has the powerful faculty of imparting an aspect of the humane to even the crudest implement. When rendered with a sense of purpose and aesthetic vision wood is universally recognized as capable of conveying a warmth and compassion that speaks clearly of its forest origins and beyond. Wood reminds us of who we are where we have come from and what we do not wish to lose.

We feel a decent respect for the life and accomplishments of the tree requires nothing shorter than the most respectful use of its body. To that end we are dedicated to producing the finest unique works to meet the needs and interests of our patrons while maintaining a sense of continuity with the wood.

What is your position on deforestation and environmental protection?

We make it a priority to obtain our lumber from local saw mills participating in legitimate sustainable yield forestry. In the case of exotics such as ebony and rose wood we make sure that the lumber was obtained lawfully and in accordance with sustainable yield conservation. We also use reclaimed second use lumber when available. Our position is one of absolute opposition to the use of any forest product obtained by anything other than sustainable means.   We are keenly aware of the current glut of Brazilian exotics obtained from deforestation using slave and child labor, and strongly advise anyone considering exotic hardwood flooring to look closely at where it came from and how it was produced.
